
The series ran from 1984-1987 and was about a highly advanced military helicopter code named Airwolf and her crew as they undertook various missions. The series follows Stringfellow Hawke (Jan-Michael Vincent) a Vietnam vet and brilliant pilot, he lives alone in a cabin in the mountains with his dog Tet a Bluetick Coonhound. Hawke is a recluse spending his time alone with his priceless collection of paintings and serenading eagles with his Stradivarius cello. His only real friend is Dominic Santini (Ernest Borgnine) owner of Santini Air a charter service founded and owned by Santini that specializes in performing aerial stunts for Hollywood film productions. Hawke is visited by Archangel (Alex Cord) the leader of the Firm that built Airwolf and asked to steal it back, it was taken by its creator Doctor Charles Henry Moffet (David Hemmings) to Libya. Hawke recovers Airwolf from Libya but chooses not to return it to the Firm Instead Hawke and Santini hide Airwolf in the remote Valley of the Gods, he will only return it if the Firm can find his brother St. John (pronounced Sin-jin) who has been missing in action since Vietnam. Archangel agrees in exchange for Hawke and Santini flying missions of national importance for the Firm.
ADF Pod
The Auto Direction Finding (ADF) Pod is a missile launcher capable of 180 degree rotation the ADF Pod could be loaded with a wide variety of missiles.
Chain Guns

Two offensive wing pods, each pod contains two 30 millimeter chain guns and one 40 millimeter cannon firing up to 40 rounds per sec.
Turbo thrusters

Two turbo thruster engines propel the aircraft to speeds in excess of Mach 1.
Stringfellow Hawke 
Stringfellow Hawke is a Vietnam vet and brilliant pilot, he lives alone in a cabin in the mountains with his dog Tet. Dominic Santini

Dominic Santini is a friend and father figure to Stringfellow Hawke who he has known since he was a small boy. He owns his own air charter service Santini Air specializing in performing aerial stunts for Hollywood film productions. Santini helps Hawke recover Airwolf from Libya as flight engineer on Airwolf and during the missions for the Firm.
Caitlin
Caitlin O’ Shannessy a former Texas Highway Patrol helicopter pilot who eventually joins Airwolf’s crew when Hawke confirms Caitlin’s suspicions that he and Santini possess and operate a super helicopter as the three fly Airwolf into East Germany to recover Archangel.
Charles Moffet
Dr Charles Henry Moffet designed and built Airwolf when Airwolf is completed he puts on a demonstration of Airwolf”s capabilities for a US senator and at the end he kills everyone in the control center and then fly’s Airwolf to Libya.
Archangel

Archangel always wear’s a white suit and hat and limps along using a cane to support his damaged leg. He allows Hawke and Santini to keep Airwolf in exchange for their expert help flying secret missions for the government.

The pretty lady is Archangel’s assistant Marella who is actually well involved in things, she is a pilot as well and transports Archangel around in a white jet ranger and gives information to Hawke and Santini when needed.
