Buck Rogers in the 25th Century is an American science fiction adventure television series and ran for two seasons from 1979-1981.  The year is 1987 NASA launches the last of America’s deep space probes,  in a freak mishap Ranger 3 and its pilot Captain William Buck Rogers (Gil Gerard) are blown out of their trajectory into an orbit which freezes his life support system and returns Buck Rogers to Earth 500 years later.  The year is 2491  Earth has been rebuilt following a devastating nuclear war and is now under the protection of the Earth Defense Directorate.  The Earth’s Defense Directorate is headed by Dr Elias Huer (Tim O Connor) and Earth’s  defense forces are commanded by Colonel Wilma Deering (Erin Gray).  Season one  follows Buck as he tries to fit into 25th Century culture and to come to terms with the fact that he has lost everyone he ever loved and knew.  Buck is assigned an ambuquad Twiki (Felix Silla) and voiced by Mel Blanc to help him with life in the 25th Century they are great friends and buck even taught Twiki some 20th Century catchphrase’s.  Dr Theopolis voiced by Eric Server is a sentient computer who is part of Earth’s Computer Council and one of the planet’s scientific leaders, he is carried around by Twiki who would attach Dr Theopolis to his chest.  The series villain is Princess Ardala (Pamela Hensley) whose goal was to conquer the Earth,  she was aided by her henchman Kane (Michael Ansara).  Civilization on Earth is restricted to a few cities,  travel beyond these city’s is hazardous as much of the planet is  radioactive wasteland inhabited by violent mutants.

Gil Gerard

buckrogersGil Gerard is an American actor most famous for his role as Captain William Buck Rogers in the 1979-1981 television series Buck Rogers in the 25th Century.  He has appeared in numerous television commercials which enabled him to land the lead role in the daytime TV series The Doctors and has made guest appearances on Little House on the Prairie and Hawaii Five 0.  He has appeared in TV movies such as Not Just Another Affair (1982),  Hear No Evil (1982) and Storming Home (1985)  he’s also been active with the Special Olympics for many years and has been a volunteer for the Los Angeles Mission which helps the homeless.

Erin Gray

250px-buck_wilmaErin Gray is an American actress her first television appearance was in 1967 in the variety series Malibu U and has also appeared in Magnum PI and Silver Spoons.  She is probably best known for her role in Buck Rogers in the 25th Century as Colonel Wilma Deering.  Her films include Jason Goes To Hell the ninth entry in the Friday the 13th series and Siren in 2005,  Gray is also active in teaching Tai Chi and wrote a book entitled Act Right which contains advice for novice television and movie actors.

Tim O Connor

Tim O Connor is best known for his role as Dr Elias Huer in Buck Rogers in the 25th Century he has also appeared in General Hospital,  Peyton Place,  Barnaby Jones, Dynasty and other series.  He has made guest appearances on Star Trek The Next Generation and Dukes of Hazzard and is currently a director for The Foothill Theater Company.

Pamela Hensley

abfabPamela Hensley is best known for playing Princess Ardala on the 1979-1981 television series Buck Rogers in the 25th Century, she has also appeared in TV shows such as Banacek,  Kojak,  Ironside,  The Rockford Files and The six million dollars man.  Her films include Self Portrait,  Doc Savage and Rollerball and in 2004 she wrote The Jewish Sicilian Cookbook.

Felix Silla felix_silla

Felix Silla is an Italian film and television actor and stuntman,  his height is only 3’11″ which made him ideal for the role of Cousin Itt on television’s The Addams Family and many other classic character roles.  His stunt work credits include E.T,  Howard the Duck,  Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom,  Spaceballs and Return of the Jedi his television career includes Bewitched, Bonanza,  Dukes of Hazzard,  Battlestar Galactica and Buck Rogers in the 25th Century as Twiki. Silla began his career in show business as a circus performer and toured with the Ringling Bros and Bailey Circus.

Eric Server

buck_dr_theopolisEric Server is a television character actor,  best known for providing the voice of computer brain Dr Theopolis in the 1979-81 TV series Buck Rogers in the 25th Century.

Michael Ansara 292px-jeyal

Michael Ansara is one of six actors to play the same character (Kang) on three different Star Trek TV series the original series (Day of the Dove),  Deep Space Nine (Blood Oath) and Voyager (Flashback).  His other television credits include Broken Arrow,  I Dream of Jeannie,  Law of the Plainsman,  Buck Rogers in the 25th Century as Princess Ardala’s henchman Kane and Babylon 5.  He has stared in such films as Julius Caesar (1953),  The Comancheros (1961),  Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea (1961) and The Ten Commandments (1956).  In recent years he has voiced the character of Mr Freeze on the various animated Batman series.
