Magnum PI is an American television series starring Tom Selleck as Thomas Magnum a private investigator living in Oahu Hawaii.  The series ran from 1980-1988 and at that time Magnum PI was one of the highest rated shows on US television.  Magnum is a Former Naval Intelligence officer who resigns his commission to become a private investigator on the north shore of Oahu Hawaii.  There he’s hired by Robin Masters to monitor security at Robin’s Nest a huge estate on the north shores of Oahu,  he lives in the guest house on the estate and get’s to drive the red Ferrari 308 GTS.  Robin’s Nest is run by Jonathan Quayle Higgins III (John Hillerman) a former Sergeant Major in Her Majesty’s Army,  Higgins and Magnum are opposites Higgins is dignified,  precise,  logical and a stickler for rules while Magnum is casual,  intuitive and bends the rules without a qualm.  Zeus and Apollo are Higgins beloved and highly trained and exceptionally loyal  Doberman’s they provide an additional layer of security for the Robin’s Nest estate, Higgins often refers to them as The Lads.  The series follows Magnum on his various adventures involving clients,  guests staying on the estate and  his days in Vietnam,  occasionally Magnum requires help from his two friends Rick (Larry Manetti) a suave playboy who is manager of the King Kamehameha Club an exclusive beachfront members only club and TC (Roger E Mosley) a helicopter pilot who operates a tourist charter business on the Island both former US Marines he served with in the Vietnam.

Tom Selleck

Tom Selleck an American actor best known for his starring role on the television show Magnum PI,  he has been in TV series such as The Young and the Restless,  The Rockford Files and The Closer.  He has been in films such as High Road to China (1983),  Runaway (1984),  Three Men and a Baby (1987),  An Innocent Man (1989) and 3 Men and a Little Lady (1990)  he has made guest appearances on friends and Boston Legal.  Tom Selleck is a member of the Board of Directors of the NRA (National Rifle Association) and in 2002 donated the rifle he used in Quigley Down Under(1984) as part of the NRA’s exhibit Real Guns of Reel Heroes at the National Firearms Museum in Fairfax, Virginia.

John Hillerman

John Hillerman s an American Emmy Award and Golden Globe winning actor best known for his starring role on the long running television show Magnum PI.  He has had minor film roles in The Last Picture Show (1971),  What’s Up Doc (1972),  High Plains Drifter (1973),  Paper Moon (1973) and Blazing Saddles (1974).  He has appeared in television shows such as One Day at a Time,  The Betty White Show and The Hogan Family.  Hillerman retired in 2000 and now resides in his home state of Texas.

Zeus & Apollo

Zeus & Apollo only respond to commands from Higgins who  often refers to them as  simply The Lads.

Ferarri 308 GTS

Magnum’s car is a  Ferarri 308 GTS and is a two seater it has a limited slip differential a racing clutch, a targa top,  air conditioning,  leather interior,  front airdam and a rear airfoil.

Larry Manetti

Larry Manetti is an American actor best known for his starring role as Orville Rick Wright on the television series Magnum PI.  He has also done co starring roles in 25 feature films and guest starred on many other television shows including Emergency,  Tales from the Darkside,  Baa Baa Black Sheep, Battlestar Galactica,  Renegade,  Quantum Leap,  JAG and Walker Texas Ranger.  Manetti has written one book called Aloha Magnum built around his time on Magnum PI.

Roger Earl Mosley

Roger Earl Mosley is an American actor best known for his role as the helicopter pilot TC on the long running television series Magnum PI.  He has made guest appearances on TV shows such as Night Court,  Starsky and Hutch and Kojak.  His film roles include Leadbelly and The Mack,  today Mosley is a member and Director of the Director’s Guild of America and  has written and directed for television, film and stage and has also directed music videos and commercials.
