was 03Gamer is a 2009 science fiction action thriller film written and directed by Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor.  The film stars Gerard Butler as Kable an unwilling participant in an online game called Slayers which allows gamers to control human death row prisoners in mass scale death matches for real.   Mind control technology is widespread and controlled by its creator, reclusive billionaire Ken Castle (Michael C Hall) his latest brainchild is the first person shooter game called Slayers.   Any inmate who lives through 30 matches wins his freedom, Simon (Logan Lerman) controls Kable who is the current champion having won 27 matches so far and lived through them all with his every move tracked by millions he must survive the ultimate battle to win his freedom.  His ultimate challenge becomes regaining his identity and independence by defeating the game’s mastermind Ken Castle through launching an attack on the system that has imprisoned him and to save mankind from Castle’s ruthless technology.
