Robocop 2 is now 20 years old the film begins with a Media Break news report which shows that living conditions in Detroit have not improved since the introduction of RoboCop (Peter Weller) a cybernetic police officer constructed from the body of Officer Alex Murphy.  RoboCop has brought success to police work in Detroit however the police force are on strike because their parent company Omni Consumer Products (OCP) have cut their salaries and benefits.  At the same time a new highly addictive designer drug Nuke has exploded in use on the streets.  The drug is supplied to Detroit by a mysterious cult leader Cain (Tom Noonan) who uses brutal terror tactics to his advantage.  One tactic includes the assassination of the Surgeon General during a conference where he warns of the dangers of Nuke.  An ambitious psychologist Juliette Faxx has been working on a project that could potentially replace RoboCop with an improved model.  Her attempts so far have failed on all levels because the deceased men who are transformed into cyborgs all destroy themselves due to the psychological trauma involved.  The mayor of Detroit finds himself in a precarious situation the city financial deficit has grown to an obscene amount and OCP is now threatening to buy Detroit out like they would any other company.  In old Detroit a group of criminals rob a gun store, RoboCop responds to the call and discovers the criminals are Nuke addicts, he interrogates the gang’s only survivor for the location where the drug was bought. Murphy goes there and breaks into building finding a Nuke production lab. Among the workers, Murphy sees Cain himself. Though Murphy and his partner Anne Lewis (Nancy Allen) are able to take out several of the lab’s guards, Cain escapes. Cain’s junior operative a teenager named Hob (Gabriel Damon) takes a pot shot at Murphy knowing that the cyborg’s programming will not allow him to shoot at a child.  Murphy and Lewis set up surveillance at a video arcade where they spot Hob meeting with a police officer Duffy.  After Hob opens fire on the police unit sent to the arcade, Murphy moves in and apprehends Duffy who had been selling information on police car dispatches to Hob who plans to ambush them.  Murphy brutally beats and interrogates Duffy demanding to know where Cain is. Duffy finally gives up the location, he is later killed horrifically by Cain in reprisal.  RoboCop drives to Cain’s hideout where he is quickly disarmed and captured by Cain.  He is bound to a table and dismantled piece by piece by the gang, he is later dumped in front of his police precinct.  OCP assumes charge of his repair however they delay the process, citing the expense involved.  more…

the_equalizerThe series starred British actor Edward Woodward as Robert McCall an ex senior operative for an agency known as The Company.  Robert voluntarily retired from an occupation that usually doesn’t let its employees leave alive,  he left the agency to make a normal life for himself and also to get to know his son Scott (William Zabka) whom he has not seen for some time.  He decides to use his professional skills to aid helpless people who are being tormented  by human predators usually free of charge,  he takes out an ad in the local  newspaper that say’s  Got a problem,  need help,  odds against you,  Call The Equalizer equalizer02212-555-4200.  Although McCall’s clients came from all walks of life they shared one thing in common they all had a problem that conventional legal authorities  such as the courts and the police could not handle.  When the job called for additional help McCall would often borrow agency personnel Mickey Kostmayer (Keith Szarabajka) to assist in the problem solving and he did much of McCall’s legwork.  When on a case McCall’s methods of persuasion varied,  he genuinely tried to resolve his clients problems without the use of force.  At first he would simply inform an offending person in a fair but firm manner to please stop their wrong doing when that failed  some threats or intimidation followed.  His final solution would be violence but only as a last resort.  Through out the series we see McCall travel around in a Satin Black 1984 Jaguar XJ6 Series III. more…

As the film opens we see falling blue lights, like flares, raining down on a large city at night time, evenly spaced over the terrain. Then we see Jarrod (Eric Balfour) and Elaine (Scottie Thompson) being woken by blue lights outside the window shining through the slates in the blinds. Elaine thinks it is morning and she gets up and goes to the bathroom to throw up. When she returns to the bed the room starts shaking and Jarrod goes to the window to lift the blinds and find out what the ruckus is. An anguished shout from the next room stops him and Jarrod goes out to find Denise (Crystal Reed) crying that the lights took Ray (Neil Hopkins). Jarrod looks at the blue light shining in the room blue/black veins start to grow all over his eyes, cheekbones and shoulders and his eyes go mottled opaque. Terry (Donald Faison) and Candice (Brittany Daniel) are also woken and go into the living room where the lights are. Jarrod starts to move mindlessly towards the light and the others pull him back.  It then cuts to the day before. We see Terry coming back to his luxurious apartment after going to the gym, he showers and then meets Candice his girlfriend. Jarrod and Elaine arrive by plane from New York to visit Terry, who is a childhood friend of Jarrod and is now doing extremely well for himself. Elaine feels sick on the plane. Terry has them met at the airport by a chauffeur driven luxury car, once they arrive at the apartment Terry shows them their room, she shows them around and they go to the pool to get drunk. Terry promises to take them out in his 59′ powerboat the next day.  It is Terry’s birthday and there’s a big party. At one point the building manager, Oliver (David Rayas) comes and asks them to keep the noise down as there have been complaints. Candice asks from who as the building is mostly empty. There’s a telescope hooked up to the flat screen and the crowd has fun watching a guy in the building across the street receiving oral sex, everyone cracks up when the giver turns out to be another guy.  Terry and Jarrod go up to the roof to see what is going on. Terry takes his revolver and Jarrod takes his camera. They meet neighbor Walt (Robin Gammell) in the hall with his dog and tell him to return to his apartment. On the roof Jarrod lets the security door close behind him so the guys are trapped on the roof.  It is dawn and they see huge clouds rolling in to LA with flickers of lightning and descending from them large spaceships all over the city. The spaceships suck up clouds of dust, Jarrod uses his camera to film whats going on, they realize the clouds are actually thousands of screaming humans being sucked into each ship. A flying alien ship appears over the edge of the roof and the guys are nearly caught by it.  Terry shoots the door handle so they can get into the building, to no avail but Elaine arrives and opens it from the inside and saves them. Elaine looks into the light and gets veiney, but Jarrod carries her back to the apartment with Terry. Everyone looks at the images and is horrified. Candice looks at the rest of the images on the camera, and someone has taken shots of Terry and Denise getting it on.  She is pissed off buts stays silent.  Terry and Denise take Terry’s Ferrari, while Candice drives Elaine and Jarrod in Walt’s Merc. Other people are in the car park with the same idea. Terry leaves the car park first the car gets squished by a stomping alien. Denise dies, Terry falls out of the car and tries to get away ineffectively shooting stompy with his weapon. more…
