The Dukes of Hazzard is a American television series that originally aired on the CBS television network from 1979 to 1985. The television series The Dukes of Hazzard follows Bo (John Schneider) and Luke Duke (Tom Wopat) two cousins living in a rural part of the fictional Hazzard County, Georgia with their cousin Daisy (Catherine Bach) and wise old Uncle Jesse (Denver Pyle) racing around in their customized 1969 Dodge Charger The General Lee evading corrupt county commissioner Jefferson Davis “Boss” Hogg (Sorrell Booke) and his inept county sheriff Rosco P Coltrane (James Best. Bo and Luke had previously been sentenced to probation for illegal transportation of moonshine that their uncle Jesse made a plea bargain to stop brewing moonshine in exchange. As a result Bo and Luke are not allowed to carry firearms instead, they often use compound bows, sometimes tipped with dynamite or to leave Hazzard County. Sometimes it is implied that they would be jailed for merely crossing the county line, on other occasions it is shown that they may leave Hazzard as long as they are back within a certain time limit. Corrupt politician Boss Hogg, who either runs or has fingers in just about everything in Hazzard County is forever angry with the Dukes, in particular Bo and Luke for eternally foiling his crooked scams and is always looking for ways to get them out of the picture so that his plots have a chance of succeeding. Many episodes revolve around Hogg trying to engage in an illegal scheme with criminal associates. Some of these are get rich quick schemes, though many others affect the financial security of the Duke farm which Hogg has long wanted to acquire for nefarious reasons. Other times Hogg hires known criminals from out of town to do his dirty work for him and often tries to frame Bo and Luke for various crimes such as bank robbery. Bo and Luke always seem to stumble over Hogg’s latest scheme, sometimes by curiosity and often by sheer luck and put it out of business. Despite the Dukes often coming to his rescue, Hogg forever seems to have an irrational dislike of the clan particularly Bo and Luke and often accuses them of spying on him, robbing or planning to rob him and other supposedly nefarious actions as he believes they are generally out to get him. The other main players of the show are Cooter Davenport, who owns the local garage and is the Duke family’s best friend and Enos Strate an honest but naive young Deputy who often finds his morals conflicted as he is reluctantly forced to take part in Hogg and Rosco’s crooked schemes. In the third and fourth season when Enos leaves for his own show, he is replaced by Deputy Cletus Hogg, Boss’s cousin who is slightly more wily than Enos but who is generally also a reluctant player in Hogg’s plots. Owing to their fundamentally good natures the Dukes often wind up helping Boss Hogg albeit begrudgingly. More than once Hogg is targeted by former associates who are either seeking revenge or have turned against him after a scheme has unravelled in one way or another including Hogg’s greedy nature. The criminals simply outsmarting the two or their consciences coming to the surface. Sometimes criminals who are even more crooked and ruthless than Hogg come to town. Sheriff Rosco also finds himself in trouble more than once. On such occasions, Bo and Luke usually have to rescue their adversaries as an inevitable precursor to defeating the bad guys. These instances became more frequent as the show progressed and later seasons saw a number of stories where the Dukes and Hogg and Rosco temporarily work together. As well as its regular car chases, jumps and stunts the show relied on character familiarity, with Deputy Cletus replacing Deputy Enos in the third and fourth season and Coy and Vance Duke temporarily replacing Bo and Luke in the fifth season, being the only major cast changes through the show’s run. Of the characters only Uncle Jesse and Boss Hogg appear in every single episode, Daisy appears in all but one the third season’s “To Catch a Duke”.
V 2010 TV series is a re-imagining of the 1980′s miniseries about the world’s first encounter with an alien race. The world quickly becomes fascinated with the V’s and their link to wonders just beyond the reach of human understanding, FBI Counter Terrorist Agent Erica Evans (Elizabeth Mitchell) discovers a secret hidden beneath the skin of every V a secret that may threaten the lives of everyone close to her. Yet for her teenage son Tyler (Logan Huffman) the V’s are his ticket to something big and hopeful a new chance for mankind to unite in common goals. To Chad Decker (Scott Wolf) a career hungry news anchor his exclusive interview with Anna (Morena Baccarin) the leader of the V’s is crucial to his dominating the airwaves. Also unsure about the Visitors is Father Jack (Joel Gretsch) a priest questioning his faith in the wake of the Visitors’ arrival on the new 2009 V TV series. Seeking answers outside the church Father Jack discovers there are other dissidents who believe the Visitors are not who they say they are including Ryan Nichols (Morris Chestnut) who is faced with his own life altering decision when the V’s show up. Giant spaceships appear over 29 major cities throughout the world, and Anna (Morena Baccarin) the beautiful and charismatic leader of the extraterrestrial “Visitors” declares that they come in peace. The Visitors claim to only need a small amount of Earth’s resources in exchange for which they will share their advanced technological and medical knowledge. As a small number of humans begin to doubt the sincerity of the seemingly benevolent Visitors FBI counter-terrorism agent Erica Evans (Elizabeth Mitchell) discovers that the aliens have spent decades infiltrating human governments, businesses and religious institutions and are now in the final stages of their plan to take over the Earth. Erica joins the resistance movement which includes Ryan (Morris Chestnut) a Visitor sleeper agent who over time developed human emotions and now wants to save humanity. Their rebellion is further challenged as the Visitors have won favor among the people of Earth by curing a variety of diseases and have recruited Earth’s youth, including Erica’s son Tyler (Logan Huffman) to serve them unknowingly as spies.
It is a spin off prequel of the re-imagined Battlestar Galactica taking place about 58 years prior to the events of Battlestar Galactica. Caprica shows how humanity first created the robotic Cylons who would later plot to destroy humans in retaliation for their enslavement. Among Caprica’s main characters are the father and uncle of Commander William Adama from the re-imagined Battlestar Galactica. Caprica differs significantly from its parent series, although a critical success Galactica had a predominantly male audience. While Caprica contains references to elements of the Battlestar universe the series was intended to be accessible to new fans. Whereas the re-imagined Battlestar Galactica series revolved around a final struggle for survival, Caprica is concerned with a world intoxicated by success. Ronald D Moore states: “It’s about a society that’s running out of control with a wild-eyed glint in its eye. The Twelve Colonies are at their peak, self involved oblivious and mesmerized by the seemingly unlimited promise of technology. Framed by the conflict between the Adamas and the Graystones over the resurrection of loved ones lost in an act of terrorism the series was meant to explore ethical implications of advances in artificial intelligence and robotics. Caprica is grounded in urban locales rather than in space and focuses on corporate, political, familial and personal intrigue similar in approach to a Greek tragedy. With the troubled relationship between two families at its center. Joseph Adama is the father of future Battlestar commander Bill Adama. In an act of terrorism that sets the story in motion, Joseph loses his wife and daughter. His family his son Willie and his brother Sam and his mother in law deal with aftermath of their loss. The Twelve Colonies are at peace 58 years before the rebooted series an act of religious fanaticism brings together Joseph Adama a lawyer with ties to the criminal underworld and wealthy technologist Daniel Graystone, both of whom lose family members. Grief stricken by the loss of his daughter and fueled by obsession, Daniel sets out to bring her back using his considerable wealth and sprawling technology corporation. Offered the chance of his own daughter being restored, Joseph wrestles with the notion until he comes face to face with its reality.
Hawaii Five-0 debuted on CBS the same network that aired the original version. Like the original Hawaii Five-0 the new Hawaii Five-0 follows an elite state police unit/task force set up to fight crime in the state of Hawaii. It premiered on Monday September 20 2010 42 years to the date from the premiere of the original show September 20 1968. On October 21 2010, CBS announced that Hawaii Five-0 had been given a 22 episode full season order. The series covers the actions of a small special state police unit created by the governor (Jean Smart) of Hawaii to investigate serious crimes on the islands. The team is headed by Steve McGarrett (Alex O’Loughlin) as it investigates crimes ranging from terrorism to kidnapping. McGarrett is assigned a partner Detective Danny Williams (Scott Caan) who has recently transferred from New Jersey. He fills out the team by selecting a friend from high school, Chin Ho Kelly (Daniel Dae Kim) and Chin’s cousin a rookie cop nicknamed Kono (Grace Park). Each episode begins with a crime or a body, followed by the assignment of the crime to the unit by either the governor herself or her representative. The task force uses the authority of the governor’s office to gain access to crime scenes and investigations involving the Honolulu Police Department (HPD) when they cross paths. As the series progresses its discovered Chin was kicked off the force after being accused of police corruption, one episode had a revelation to a case he was working on involving the asset forfeiture inventory stashed in an HPD locker that no one knows about which led to Chin’s resignation from HPD. Delving into these charges his accusations lead the team to true corruption in the HPD including a mole that nearly had Kono killed (who was later implicated in the murder of Danny Williams’ best friend and later IDed by Sang Min (the human trafficker who was seen in the pilot episode) and suspicious cases Steve’s father was looking into involving the Yakuza. After the terrorist responsible for his father’s murder is apprehended a mysterious criminal interrogates him about Steve looking into his father’s old cases. This figure is later revealed to be “Wo Fat” (Mark Dacascos) a criminal with ties to the Yakuza he is also possibly responsible for the car bomb murder of Steve’s mother. When his father looked into this, he began to dig too far into the corruption forcing him to lay off the investigation. He saved everything he uncovered in a toolbox, which he left to Steve in the hopes of picking up where he left off. The HPD mole however learned that his sister was looking into her mother’s murder and the cases in the toolbox as well. The Yazuka crime boss had Steve’s sister abducted, he also had Steve attacked in his own home and destroyed all the evidence against him. After going after this crime lord, whose ties include even the governor Wo Fat first meets McGarrett.
